We’ll carry this course through by way of Reading for Writing. There are altogether 10 units in the course. For each unit, you are to watch one or two video lectures for the writing skill(s) and read at least one article equipped with several exercises and then a video guide will be provided to give you a brief summary of the text and the sample answers to the exercises. The topics include the purpose of higher education (Unit 1&2), gender equality (Unit 3&4), essence of human travel (Unit 5&6), online education (Unit 7&8) and parenting (Unit 9&10) respectively. While the topics may sound familiar to you, the articles are thought-provoking and require lots of critical thinking. By this, we hope to provide you some food for thought and for you to put into immediate practice the writing skills that you’ve learnt from the videos by taking the reading passages as the ground for exercising. In other words, we are here not just to answer the question of how to write, but also what to write about.
