Overview

      Life science plays an important role in solving significant issues such as human health, environmental pollution and resource depletion. "Biochemistry" reveals the essence of life at the molecular level and lectures the nature, structure and function of components in life, as well as the metabolism network and the dynamic equilibrium of substances in organism. The "Biochemistry" course of Nanjing University is one of the most excellent courses in China created by Mr. Zheng Ji, the first-generation biochemist and nutritionist in China. As a supporting course, "Experiments in Biochemistry" aims at consolidating basic knowledge, training experimental skills, and cultivating the ability to discover and solve problems. It is a professional core course of six schools in Nanjing University, including the School of Life Sciences, Medical School etc. The textbook "Biochemistry Experiments" of this course, in the 6th edition, is one of the most influential experimental textbooks in China. To meet the needs of autonomous and visual learning, a comprehensive, systematic and model MOOC is established. Currently, 17 experiments are on-line, covering 6 major subjects of "Biochemistry", including carbohydrate, lipid, protein and nucleic acid, etc. We show the whole operation procedures of the biochemical experiments, in-depth interpret the technique difficulties and key details, demonstrate the observation and analysis of experimental phenomena comprehensively. We aim to inspire students to think deeply about the principles and applications of biochemistry and biotechnology.

      The teaching team of this course is an excellent young and middle-aged group in Nanjing University. They will be together with the students at the experiment scene, to perceive and explore the biological microcosm, and appreciate the magic and beauty of life science and biotechnology.
