Huangmei Opera Appreciation is a first-class course at the provincial level in Anhui, taught on campus in the spring semester and as a public elective in the autumn semester for undergraduate students, with a cohort of around 100 students per semester.
As one of the local operas, Huangmei opera was a product of its time and culture, influenced by the social environment and regional factors, its development and maturity not only went through a long historical stage, but also reflected the colourful evolution of the societies and cultures of Anhui, E and Gan provinces, and was an outpouring of regional cultural genes. The spiritual connotation of Chinese opera art is that it constantly points to "skill; and the way", so that the spirit of traditional Chinese culture carried by Chinese opera art can shine through the world.
As; a local opera genre, Huangmei opera has great influence and many students are eager to learn it for the love of it. This course goes from the superficial to the in-depth, using opera to talk about opera and technique to talk about art, enabling students to gain a broader understanding of the origin, evolution, development and current status of Huangmei opera, and to master the classification of opera, opera music and opera stage performance art in traditional Chinese local opera stage art as well as the use of traditional Chinese instrumental music in Huangmei opera music. To produce a beautiful examination of the art of Huangmei opera, to appreciate the charm of Huangmei opera art while fully feeling the charm of traditional Chinese opera art, to find some ways to study problems and solve them, and to improve the overall quality of culture and art, which will help them to improve their artistic cultivation, maintain the sentiment of the native land and promote traditional culture. In the past five years, I have offered public courses such as "Appreciation; of Huangmei Opera Art", "Huangmei; Opera Repertoire" and "Appreciation; of Traditional Chinese Opera Stage Art" at Anqing Normal University for a total of seven semesters, for an audience of students from all over the university. Over the past few years, the course has been well received by students through their feedback. Many students have also become fans after taking the course, and often seek me out privately to learn the classic Huangmei opera songs and body performances, joining in the learning and dissemination of Huangmei opera. In the past two semesters, many students have come to class to listen, learn to sing and communicate with each other, and the classroom atmosphere is very lively. The course "Appreciation; of the Art of Huangmei Opera" is still being revised, improved and collated in my classroom practice. As a niche subject in undergraduate education, Huangmei opera needs to be promoted through a platform so that more people will know about the course.
