Understand China by exploring the ordinary life in Sichuan.
The course consists of 3 modules and 12 chapters.
Module 1: Flavor in Sichuan introduces the living and food culture in Sichuan and other parts of China with the theme of Sichuan style, Sichuan cuisine, Sichuan tea and Sichuan liquor.
Module 2: Arts and Crafts in Sichuan takes Sichuan opera, Shu embroidery, Mianzhu New Year painting, and Deyang Chao fan as the themes to show Sichuan folk art and wisdom.
Module 3: Tao in Sichuan is based on cultural attractions such as Sanxingdui, Deyang Confucian Temple, Mt. Qingcheng, and Mt.Emei, showing the ancient Shu civilization and the spirits of traditional Chinese Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism.
The course content focuses on the combination of Bashu regional culture and Chinese culture, the link between Chinese traditional culture and contemporary national culture, and the comparison between Chinese culture and foreign culture. From objective perspective and multi- comparisons, it shows the image of Chinese culture in a real, diverse and multi-dimensional way.
In order to allow learners to read, see and understand the teaching content well, according to the differences in Chinese language basis and cultural background of higher vocational international students, the online course is presented in both Chinese and English, and the supporting textbook is also written in Chinese and English, with Chinese Pinyin, and tries to tell Chinese stories in words that students can understand.
