Overview

Sichuan Opera is the first batch of local opera announced by the State Council to enter the "National Intangible Cultural Heritage List". It has a history of nearly 300 years, has a long history, and it’s very inclusive. It has a long cultural history and distinctive regional characteristics. The performances are lively and humorous, and they are closely related to folk religious beliefs and activities, and have a broad and deep mass foundation. Sichuan Opera is the product of the integration and infiltration of Chinese opera culture and Bashu native culture. The five major tones in the history of Chinese opera all have different levels of inheritance and development in Sichuan Opera. It is a microcosm of Chinese opera and has made important contributions to the development of Chinese opera. Precisely because of this inclusive quality, Sichuan culture has created a cultural character of Sichuan operas enjoying both elegance and vulgarity.

 

       This course is jointly completed by Sichuan Normal University teachers and a number of Plum Blossom Award winners, Sichuan Opera theorists, Sichuan Opera music composers, etc., and guides and explains from Sichuan Opera rhetoric, music, characters, programs, clothing and other aspects. It enables learners to understand the history, genre, and repertoire of Sichuan Opera, increase their interests in Sichuan Opera, and enhance their appreciation of the opera. Let students understand the basic knowledge of Sichuan Opera, such as the history of Sichuan Opera, character behaviors, tones and music, performance programs, and costumes and face-paintings through various teaching methods. The combination of audio-visual, gave students the chance to experience the phonological charm of the Sichuan Opera art, the charm of the costumes, the charm of the characters, and built students the desire to further explore the charm of Sichuan Opera art, and has a certain Sichuan Opera appreciation ability.

 

      The design of this course is to comply with the requirements of the national aesthetic education work in the new era, deepen the reform of education and teaching, comprehensively promote the inheritance of excellent traditional culture, educate people through aesthesis and culture, and enhance the aesthetics and humanistic quality of contemporary college students. The course uses five major sections: the charm of rhetoric, the charm of music, the charm of roles, the art of Sichuan Opera and society, the basic knowledge of Sichuan Opera face-paintings and costumes, from the basic knowledge of Sichuan Opera art to the cultural value of Sichuan Opera art and related initiatives of inheritance and innovation, using special lectures and classic plays appreciation, teacher demonstrations and other forms will transform the stage into a podium, integrate tradition and modernity, and combine inheritance and innovation. Introduce students to Sichuan Opera, understand Sichuan Opera, let everyone experience the colorful Sichuan Opera, love traditional culture, enhance national pride, and build cultural confidence.
