Advanced English I

'Advanced English ' is a professional core course for English majors. It consists of ' Advanced English 1 ' and ' Advanced English 2 '.It is mainly for junior English majors and intermediate and advanced English learners. Advanced English plays an important role in improving students ' comprehensive English skills, consolidating and improving students ' advanced reading, stylistic analysis, grammatical rhetoric and writing, and problem solving. 
 
'Advanced English 1 ' is a pre-course of 'Advanced English 2 ', which is 4 credits and 64 hours. It is set up in the autumn semester of each year. Its main task is to enable students to widely understand famous works involving politics, economy, society, language, literature, education, philosophy, law, religion and natural science through the teaching of this course, to cultivate students ' ability to analyze and understand famous works, logical thinking ability and independent thinking ability, to expand students ' knowledge, to deepen students ' understanding of society and life, to enhance their sensitivity to the differences between Chinese and Western cultures, and to consolidate and improve students ' comprehensive English skills. 
 
Over the years, the course team has been committed to the ' Advanced English ' curriculum reform and exploration. In October 2017, this course was approved by Chongqing Higher Education Teaching Reform Research Major Project ' Multidimensional Teaching Reform Research and Practice of ' Advanced English ' Course in Applied Undergraduate Colleges ' ( 171026 ), and passed the final acceptance in December 2019. In September 2018, this course was approved by the first batch of applied characteristic course construction projects of Chongqing University of Science and Technology ( Academic Letter  No. 156 ) ; in 2020, this course was approved by Chongqing University of Science and Technology, the first batch of ideological and political demonstration course construction
