Overview

      As excellent professionals, not only should they be able to provide treatment and save lives, but also take precautions to improve the population health. We hoped that after completing this course, students can firmly establish the concept of ‘prevention first’, master the basic knowledge and skills of preventive medicine, and become doctors who can both diagnose and treat patients and develop personalized clinical prevention services to ‘promote the health of all’.

      The course includes two parts: Introduction and Clinical Preventive Services. The introduction includes the basic concepts of preventive medicine, determinants of health, Health Ecological Model, prevention at three levels and corresponding strategies. Clinical prevention services are the most relevant content for clinical medical students. After introducing the basic concepts and contents of clinical preventive services, this course focuses on teaching process and skills on how to develop individualized clinical preventive services. It mainly introduces the basic individual behavior theory and behavior intervention principles, as well as the three types of behavior intervention methods including: tobacco control, promoting physical activity and balanced diet . Principles of early detection and treatment of diseases was also introduced as the secondary prevention.
