Course Background:"Mandarin Phonetics and Vocalization - 1" is one of the foundational courses for the Broadcasting and Hosting Arts major and is a key course for first-year undergraduate students in this field. It establishes the phonetic and vocal foundation necessary for subsequent courses such as "Mandarin Phonetics and Vocalization - 2", "Broadcasting and Hosting Creative Foundations - 1", "Broadcasting and Hosting Creative Foundations - 2", as well as "Radio Broadcasting and Hosting" and "Television Broadcasting and Hosting".
Course Objectives:
The overall teaching goal of this course is to understand the theoretical knowledge of phonetics and voice production, and to master the essential phonetic and vocal skills needed for broadcasting and hosting. The knowledge acquired should guide one's practical vocal exercises, laying a solid foundation for future professional learning. Specifically, this course aims to achieve the following objectives:
(1) Acquire theoretical knowledge of phonetics and vocalization through lectures.
(2) Learn basic breath control techniques to achieve smooth and solid voice production.
(3) Master the phonetic system of Mandarin, ensuring accurate pronunciation.
(4) Become familiar with commonly used vocabulary and ensure accurate pronunciation.
(5) Use Mandarin fluently for expression, reaching at least Level 1-B or higher.
(6) Master articulation techniques to achieve clear and smooth pronunciation.
(7) Flexibly use breath and voice according to the content and emotional tone of expression, demonstrating the ability to vary one's voice.
Course Design Principles:
(1) Emphasize improvement through practice. Broadcasting and hosting must ultimately be executed through the use of spoken language, and honing spoken language skills requires practical experience.
(2) Value theoretical learning and use theory to guide practice and improve efficiency.
(3) Advocate for scientific, high-volume practice. Practice should be diligent and persistent with repeated exercises.
