Community Health Nursing focuses on factors influencing the health of individuals, families, communities and populations. The student will examine relevant concepts, theories, research and emerging community health issues. Appropriate strategies for community health nursing interventions will be designed and implemented.
After successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1.Discuss major concepts underlying community and public health nursing
2.Apply concepts of community, community health, environmental health, and epidemiology to community health nursing practice
3.Conduct and analyze community assessments with individuals, families, and population groups in the community
4.Discuss community/public health interventions on specific health issues of individuals, families, and communities
5.Apply health promotion strategies in the nursing care of individuals, families, and groups across the lifespan
6.Apply research and evidence-based practice to the practice of community health nursing
7.Use relevant frameworks to implement the nursing intervention for a selected community
