Overview

The course Chinese Art History is a required professional basic course for art undergraduates, and a course to study the historical process and law of the occurrence and development of Chinese art. This course mainly teaches the history of Chinese art in various historical periods based on specific categories or comprehensive art history, taking the mainstream art of each era as the main line, taking into account the important works of art, artists, art events, art institutions and other elements of each period, so as to cultivate students' art history literacy. This course will talk about the history of Chinese art in accordance with the Chinese historical context, cultural thought and artistic vocabulary based on the theoretical basis and spiritual care of China. This course focuses on the commonality and connection of all kinds of arts in the general context of historical background, social conditions, aesthetic awareness, fashion and trend, summarizes the occurrence, development, category, characteristics and ideology of art in the historical evolution, and tries to outline the basic face of Chinese art history for students.            

The course is divided into eight chapters with 32 class hours, covering a time span of more than 10000 years from prehistory to the late Qing Dynasty. In turn, she taught the introduction to Chinese Art History(general introduction), primitive art, Xia, Shang and Zhou art, Qin and Han art, Wei, Jin, southern and Northern Dynasties art, Sui and Tang art, Five Dynasties, Song and Yuan art, Ming and Qing art.

Through the study of this course, students can master the development process of all kinds of art in China, know the mutual relationship between all kinds of art history in history, and on this basis, understand the formation and historical evolution of human art history, understand different concepts and methods of art history writing across specific categories of art history, grasp the evolution and changes of traditional art forms and art language in the process of art history, and theoretically study in a higher cultural level and a broader artistic field of vision.
