“Past and Present” of Urban Development in China

Kunming University of Science and Technology via XuetangX

Overview

“Past and Present” of Urban Development in China " is a professional course with strong generality. The main subjects of the lectures are undergraduates majoring in Urban Planning. In addition, it also includes the public masses who are interested in the history of urban planning and construction. At present, the teaching team has a good foundation in the early stage and has formed a teaching team with rich teaching experience. The accumulation of current resources is a solid foundation for the construction of the course.

The knowledge system of the course mainly includes three parts.

The first part is “First Appearance of “Past Life” of Chinese Cities”, mainly about the development of the Chinese city civilization from the prehistoric settlement to the Wei, Jin, and Southern - Northern Dynasties;

the second part is “The Flourish of Chinese Cities in Ancient Times”, mainly about the situation of urban construction and development in China from the Tang Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty;

the third part is "Prelude of this life in Chinese cities", , telling the development and construction of cities from modern China to contemporary times.

The construction of this course can meet the learning needs of the current subject-matter subject of "combining online and offline", promote the active interaction between teachers and students in teaching activities, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of learning through the "platform function" of the course. For non-architectural students, the study of the history of Chinese urban development and construction will help to understand the unique charm of Chinese civilization and build national self-confidence. At the same time, it also reflects the teaching of "large-scale sharing" and "in-school mixed teaching" thought.
