Chinese idioms, or chéngyǔ in pinyin, are long-term established expressions, most of which consist of only four characters. They not only contain rich connotations, but also capture the spirits of Chinese people. Reflecting almost all aspects of ordinary life, Chinese idioms are often regarded as the living fossil and essence of Chinese civilization. An Insight into Chinese Agricultural Civilization -- Chinese Idioms is an online English course, mainly narrating stories, tales and classical allusions of agriculture-related idioms, with ranging themes from mountains and waters, to grass and trees, to animals and time, all displaying feelings, emotions and ideas shared by all humans. As a companion course to the one in agricultural stories of ancient China, this second online course continues to show the world how brilliant and gorgeous China’s culture has been while helping learners to understand the relationship between language and agricultural civilization.
