    • In this course, Olivia Mae Hanlon, founder of Girls in Marketing, alongside Semrush's own Rita Cidre, will guide you through the vast landscape of digital marketing and how to find a job that suits you with zero experience. You'll discover what kind of marketer you want to be, learn how to connect with potential employers and clients, and by the end, you'll have a shiny certificate to show off to all your new connections on LinkedIn.
  • Lesson: What Kind of Digital Marketer Should You Be?
    • This lesson breaks down exactly what digital marketing is and the reponsibilites they may include, from content creation to more analytical roles. You'll begin to target what it is you're drawn to in a digital marketing job and start searching for how those roles present themselves on job sites.
  • Activity: Find Your First Marketing Job
    • In this activity, you'll learn where and how to search for jobs with the help of our downloadable checklist. If you haven't already, this is the time to start looking for opportunities. Get a feel for the kind of roles you'd want to apply for in digital marketing, using the spectrum of roles from the previous lesson as your guide.
  • Lesson: Gaining Experience When You Have None
    • In this lesson, Olivia details her own experience in getting into digital marketing, and how anyone can break into it, no matter their previous experience or education. She reveals the story of Girls in Marketing through its staff and members, their supposed lack of experience, and their success now. This lesson is the pep talk you've been waiting for.
  • Lesson: How to Find Free Digital Marketing Courses with Certifications
    • In this video, we'll explore the landscape of free online marketing certification courses, including MOOCs, professional certifications from Google and Meta, and LinkedIn Learning. We'll guide you on how to find the best free options and align your learning with your career goals. Plus, Rita reveals the marketing certification that transformed her career!
  • Activity: Create Opportunities for Yourself
    • In this activity, you'll return to the job listing you found previously. You will dissect this job description to find the skills required for the role, and Olivia will explain how you can gain those skills yourself for free, with no fancy degree needed. You'll finish this activity with a tailored list of exactly what skills to gain for your ideal digital marketing role and how to gain them.

  • Lesson: Connecting with Employers and Clients
    • In this lesson, you will learn how to create a shortlist of companies you are interested in working for, how to start applying for roles, and how to tailor your outreach to each company to stand out from the competition. Olivia discusses the importance of researching the companies you're applying to, as well as how to forge your own opportunities.

    • It’s time to apply for that job you found at the beginning of the course! Research your target company and identify a key contact. Then, using the skills you've gained, write a concise email that highlights your qualifications and enthusiasm. Aim to impress, but don't stress. This is all great practice!
