This course is an introduction to the study of bodies in motion as applied to engineering systems and structures. We will study the dynamics of particle motion and bodies in rigid planar (2D) motion. This will consist of both the kinematics and kinetics of motion. Kinematics deals with the geometrical aspects of motion describing position, velocity, and acceleration, all as a function of time. Kinetics is the study of forces acting on these bodies and how it affects their motion. --------------------------- Recommended Background: To be successful in the course you will need to have mastered basic engineering mechanics concepts and to have successfully completed my courses en titled an “Introduction to Engineering Mechanics” and “Applications in Engineering Mechanics.” We will apply many of the engineering fundamentals learned in those classes and you will need those skills before attempting this course. --------------------------- Suggested Readings: While no specific textbook is required, this course is designed to be compatible with any standard engineering dynamics textbook. You will find a book like this useful as a reference and for completing additional practice problems to enhance your learning of the material. --------------------------- The copyright of all content and materials in this course are owned by either the Georgia Tech Research Corporation or Dr. Wayne Whiteman. My favorite aspect is that the videos aren't super long (on average around 10 min). They provide the "need to know" info covering the content and the necessary background buildup going in consecutive order in a concise and engaging way. Some worked…

Fantastic course, nice steady pace from basics to more advanced material. I've been out of school for several years and am about to go back to get my masters. This was a great refresher for the mechanics knowledge that was stuck in the gray matter in the back of my mind. Highly recommended!

Excellent course. This course as taught by Dr. Whiteman gives you the skills to understand the principles of dynamics of particles and bodies in 2D motion and to comfortably apply those skills to real world applications. I highly recommend this course.

Highest quality online dynamics course you can find on the web bar none. The videos are excellently done and the concepts are beautifully explained. It doesn't make it easy, but it makes it worth it. If you're here to seriously learn/relearn dynamics, there's no better way to do it than through Coursera/Dr. Whiteman's course. It's better than the course you took in college.

Took this class while I was enrolled in an actual dynamics course on campus. This was BY FAR the better course. Dr. Whiteman is fantastic and really cares about teaching his students. It is obvious that he wants everyone to gain knowledge through this class and succeed.

This course is a life saver. 10/10 Would recommend

This course was extremely helpful in helping me learn while working full time. I was able to complete the course on my own schedule.

Great videos, got a low D on my first midterm, started watching these videos before I did homework and I just got a 90 on the second midterm. God bless Dr Whiteman

The videos were very helpful in understanding concepts that were previously difficult for me in another course. I thought everything was explained very well. Some of the questions were vaguely worded in the test, but overall a good Dynamics course.

Dr. Whiteman communicates the key concepts needed to master Dynamics through these well prepared videos. Watching these videos and doing examples in class with him gave me a thorough understanding of Dynamics by the end of the class!

One of the courses that I was able to learn due to the straight to the point lecture on the subject matter. Also shows various application samples that aid their students to further understand on its application in the real world.

This course goes well into depth explaining how to solve all real world problems without going overboard. Instead there are extra problem videos he works through that you can decide to watch on concepts you don’t understand.

Very comprehensive course covering many topics in dynamics with very helpful worked example problems to accompany each topic. Explanations were clear and concise, and some visuals also helped with difficult concepts.

This course just changed my perspective way of looking world around me. Thanks Dr. Wayne Whiteman. You are incredible Especially your statement " Emphasis will be on understanding the subject not ton the calculations"

We are very early into the semester but for now everything seems straightfoward and Dr. Whiteman explains the material clearly. He cares for his students and wishes to have that one-to-one contact.

This is very well taught class by a great professor. There are breakpoints in videos so that we can do work by ourselves before resuming the lecture and it’s a good way to keep up with lecture.

Good introduction for a complete outsider. I've been taking Dr. Whiteman's courses in sequence.

But to better grasp the topic do not neglect additional problems from the textbook.
