Chengdu University of TCM via XuetangX

Overview

Science of Meridians, Collaterals and Acupoints is a compulsory professional basic course for students majoring in acupuncture, moxibustion and Chinese massage (Tuina) in colleges and institutions of traditional Chinese medicine. It is the main course for acupuncture, moxibustion and Tuina majors at all levels in colleges and institutions of traditional Chinese medicine. It is the basis for learning follow-up courses such as Techniques of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Acupuncture and Moxibustion Therapeutics. It is also one of the core links to ensure the training quality of acupuncture and moxibustion professionals. This course is mainly offered by the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Basic Teaching and Research Section of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1996, it became a key course in Sichuan Province, in 2008, it became a boutique course in Sichuan Province, and in 2020, it became a demonstration course of the curriculum of ideology and politics in Sichuan Province. This course is offered in the fifth semester and is designed for undergraduate and long-term students. This course uses the 13th Five Year Plan textbook Science of Meridians, Collaterals and Acupoints edited by professor Hu Ling and published by Shanghai Science and Technology Press. The video is divided into two parts: an overview of meridians and acupoints, and a clinical demonstration of acupoints location.

The general section outlines the basic theories of meridians, collaterals and acupoints, as well as their guiding significance for clinical practice. The various sections mainly introduce the circulation of the twelve meridians and the eight extraordinary meridians, as well as the location and treatment of key acupoints. Science of Meridians, Collaterals and Acupoints is of great significance in explaining the physiological and pathological changes of the human body, guiding the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and can provide a theoretical basis for acupuncture and moxibustion and other clinical departments of Chinese medicine. In addition, PPT will be supplemented synchronously as students' reference and learning.
