Overview

The "Ethnic Residential Environment and Continuation Design" course in the Environmental Design major at Yunnan Arts University is offered in the first semester of the senior year. It primarily consists of professional design knowledge and practical design experience. This course represents the final stage of all professional design courses and serves as a transition between design study and graduation projects. It emphasizes the integration of theory, knowledge, and concrete design cases, expanding the scope of professional design learning, and is a key component of professional design education. All knowledge points in the course reflect the teaching characteristics of the Environmental Design major and hold significant importance in the undergraduate education system. Class sizes generally do not exceed 35 students. Through this course, students will gain an understanding of the unique ethnic culture of Yunnan, particularly its residential and living environments, as well as the research scope and significance of the course. They will learn to comprehend the contemporary value of traditional residences and, based on fundamental design principles, identify issues within traditional ethnic residences and propose effective practical solutions.
