Catalyst Engineering is of vital importance to the world’s economy, allowing us to convert raw materials into valuable chemicals and fuels in an economical, efficient, and environmentally benign manner. It covers the concept of catalysts, the basic theory of catalysis, the design of industrial catalysts, the preparation methods of industrial catalysts, the characterization of industrial catalysts, frontiers of catalyst engineering, etc. This course is intended for students of chemistry, chemical engineering and process engineering, as well as chemists, engineers, and technicians in industry who are involved with catalysts. Largely dispensing with complex theoretical and mathematical treatments, the book describes the fundamental principles of catalysis in an easy to understand fashion. Numerous examples and exercises with solutions serve to consolidate the understanding of the catalysts.
