Computer-Aided Design of Electrical Machines

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and NPTEL via Swayam

Overview

ABOUT THE COURSE: This course deals with the design of electrical machines using an analytical and a computer-aided approach. The course covers the detailed part by part design of various machines derived using fundamental electromechanical equations.Various conventional electromechanical devices/machines including transformers, induction, synchronous and dc machine design is covered along with design approaches presenting more recent special machines such as brushless permanent magnet (PMSM and BLDC), switched reluctance, and synchronous reluctance machines along with numerical problems. A computer-aided approach to design the aforementioned machines is presented in each chapter, and the course also contains exercises and tutorial to enable the reader to understand the design process and test out the design problems on their own.INTENDED AUDIENCE: BE/B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D students, Industry personnel working in domain of design of electrical machines, and design enthusiasts having interest in electric motor design.PREREQUISITES: Fundamentals of Electric Machines, Modeling of Electrical Machines.
