[Recommended Preparation: ENGL 116, or ENGL 115 and ENGL 220, or equivalent or through the Southwestern College multiple measures placement processes.] Develops methods of analysis of the literary elements of visual narratives, focusing on character development, point of view, setting, plot, metaphor, and theme. Investigates and responds critically to literature and films in class discussions, examinations, and essays. Analyzes the use of "cinematic" techniques in contemporary prose fiction. [D; CSU; UC]
