Somehow, we have always known that writing and expressing ourselves creatively is profoundly important and potentially healing to us as humans. Writing can help boost self-esteem, deepen a sense of self-control and improve self-awareness, all important aspects of a successful creative life.
Writing poetry allows you to take a completely novel perspective on things that are important to you right now… nothing will stop you from taking on the persona of grass to explore your feelings of being wild:-) It will also allow you to write about challenging experiences like anger or grief in a way that helps others know more about what might feel too difficult to say directly to them. Or to yourself.
Jessica is a visual poet and psychotherapist living in Sweden. In this class, she will guide you through three creative lessons to help you connect deeply with yourself and write poetry.
The class is suitable both for the beginner who has never written poetry before, or the more experienced writer. You will explore creative writing through the themes of:
- The Stillness of Nature
- Mindfulness of Daily Chores
- Self Reflecting Through Journaling
You will need:
- Pen and paperÂ
- CuriosityÂ
Class assignment:
- Write at least one poem inspired by one of the themes!
When you have taken this class, you will have tried some fun ways of sparking creative joy. You will also deepen the connection to yourself, through some reflecting and you will have written at least one poem that you can be proud of and call your own!
