Overview

This course is an elementary level Filipino course, the national language of the Philippines, or Tagalog, the language on which Filipino is based. It aims to develop all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing at the elementary level. This course examines pronunciation, word formation, grammar, and sentence structures while providing the essential vocabulary in various situational contexts, appropriate forms of address, and cultural nuances for communication. This course will also provide basic knowledge about values, customs, and regions of the Philippines. This course is equivalent to two years of high school Filipino. Field trips may be required. Transfer credit: CSU.
