This course introduces representative works from four major genres: short story, novel, drama, and poetry. Students develop analytical and evaluative reading and writing skills while acquiring an appreciation for the cultural context and the aesthetic qualities of literature. Students read texts from various countries and periods in order to encourage an appreciation of literatures range, artistry, and insight into the human experience.
