This course will provide an introduction to the field of psychology, defined as the scientific study of all human behaviors. The approach of the course offers students a foundation for applying the principles of psychology to daily life, understanding the self and others, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and preparing for further study in psychology. Topics include the psychology-biology connection, learning, memory, mental processes, emotions, motivation, human development, mental illness, psychotherapy, socialization, and methods used in psychological research. Special attention will focus on psychological implications of culture and diversity on human behavior.
