This course will include the survey of art music in western civilization. Topics studied include but are not limited to elements of music, basic musical forms, music periods, styles, and the role of music and musicians in the western world. It includes an emphasis on the development of an appreciation for the integrity of both emotional and intellectual responses to music of Western and non-Western cultures.
