Dartmouth Health Continuing Education for Professionals Home, Medicine Grand Rounds - From the Other Side of the Exam Table, 4/16/2021 8:00:00 AM - 4/16/2024 9:00:00 AM, Participants in Medicine Grand Rounds will be able to identify the most current treatment guidelines, innovations, and standards of practice, and apply them to improve the care of individual patients, promote health and wellness in the population, and achieve clinical quality and safety goals. These educational activities are grounded in principles of health equity, evidence based medicine, inter-professional teamwork, patient-centered care, and respect for human dignity.

About our presenter: 
Dr. Lucy Kalanithi is a graduate of the Yale School of Medicine, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society and an honoree of Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center’s “the one hundred.” She is an advocate for culture change around healthcare value, and the widow of Dr. Paul Kalanithi, author of the #1 New York Times-bestselling memoir When Breath Becomes Air, for which she wrote the epilogue.

Learning Outcome(s)
Participants will be able to discuss the experience of health care providers as caregivers or patients with serious illness while exploring the impact of these perspectives on one’s professional identity and practice as a clinician, and consider approaches to maintaining compassion while experiencing serious illness.
