Participants in Medicine Grand Rounds will be able to identify the most current treatment guidelines, innovations, and standards of practice, and apply them to improve the care of individual patients, promote health and wellness in the population, and achieve clinical quality and safety goals. These educational activities are grounded in principles of health equity, evidence based medicine, inter-professional teamwork, patient-centered care, and respect for human dignity.

About our presenter:
Dr. Frederick S. Southwick received his BA from Yale College and MD from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He received his clinical training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Boston City Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospitals, and served on the faculty at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania before becoming Chief of Infectious Diseases at the University of Florida.

Participants will be able to apply a systems approach to understanding and controlling pandemics based on the principles of highly reliable organizations, including the recognition of exponential growth curves and the avoidance of premature therapeutics and disinformation.
