Giving and receiving constructive feedback are critical tools for creating a healthy and equitable work environment, boosting productivity and engagement, and achieving improved results. It positively influences communication, interactions and teamwork in all fields. Good communication tops most lists of important workplace skills regardless of industry; learning how to offer and accept constructive criticism will enable you to advance your career.

For many people, giving and receiving feedback can be incredibly stressful. When someone has poured their heart and soul into their work, you may feel like you’re about to insult their baby instead of improving their project. On the other side of the equation, giving feedback to someone who appears to take it personally may lead to strained relationships and withheld input. Unfortunately, resistance to giving and receiving feedback often leads to work that is weaker than it could be. Perhaps you have experienced this sense of apprehension, and that’s why you’re exploring this course. The good news is that feedback doesn’t have to be painful. We’ll teach you how.

By learning the proven techniques presented within this course, you can develop strong feedback skills. If you provide feedback to others—coworkers, direct reports, or your manager—this course will help you to present your ideas more effectively. It will also help you to be a better recipient of feedback and use it as a productive tool for self-improvement either in a professional or personal setting. With practice, you’ll learn to turn previously painful feedback sessions into quality-boosting moments that can help you and your coworkers improve job performance and achieve important goals.

We all need feedback. That is how we grow.
