Chung Yuan Christian University via FutureLearn

Overview

Explore SDG4 and the importance of quality education

We now live in an age where large amounts of information is widely available to many people. Because of this, it’s important for everyone to develop their digital literacy in order to understand the information they are presented with.

On this seven-week course, you’ll gain crucial digital literacy skills, focusing on security, media, and legal literacy.

What’s more, you’ll learn how digital literacy can help you achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on quality education. Education plays an important role in achieving a sustainable society. On the course, you’ll learn how you can contribute to this.

Gain information security awareness

You’ll start by discovering the importance of security literacy, particularly in the wake of digital transformation and cloud technology. As part of this, you’ll develop your information security awareness.

Next, you’ll gain an understanding of security literacy. This will help you determine what makes a good password and the threat of Business Email Compromise (BEC).

Develop your media literacy

You’ll then explore how the internet has completely changed the world, affecting the media and their audience.

This exploration will help you develop your media literacy to ensure you can spot fake news and understand online public opinion and the influence of social media.

Finally, you’ll explore legal literacy in the digital age. You’ll unpack the legal challenges in the metaverse, cryptocurrency, and more to understand the laws that protect us on the internet.

Learning from the experts at Chung Yuan Christian University and using real-world events, you’ll finish the course with a better understanding of digital literacy and how you can use this to promote SDGs.

This course is designed for anyone interested in digital literacy and sustainable development goals.

It will also be useful for those who want to know more about information security, fake news, and legal issues on the internet.
