Introduction and Course Overview

In this module, we will introduce you to the COBIT 2019 Foundation course, including what you can expect to learn and how it will benefit you. We will also define Enterprise Governance for IT and provide an overview of the course materials that will aid in your certification preparation and practical application.

COBIT as an IT Governance Framework

In this module, we will explore COBIT 2019 as a comprehensive IT governance framework. We will start by defining Enterprise Governance of IT and its alignment with business objectives. Next, we will discuss the benefits of effective I&T governance and address common misconceptions about what COBIT 2019 can and cannot achieve, helping you understand its true capabilities and limitations.

COBIT 2019 Principles

In this module, we will delve into the core principles of COBIT 2019, starting with the six principles that guide a governance system. We will then differentiate between a governance system and a governance framework, followed by an exploration of the three essential principles for creating a governance framework. Finally, we will review the updates in COBIT 2019 and how they improve upon the previous version, COBIT 5.

Basic Concepts: Governance System and Components

In this module, we will cover the fundamental concepts of the COBIT 2019 governance system and its components. We will provide an overview of the framework, delve into the 40 governance and management objectives, and examine the seven core components of a governance system. In this module, we will take a closer look at how COBIT 2019 is applied in real-world IT settings, beyond the scope of the Foundation exam. We will explore potential next steps in your certification journey, including advanced COBIT certifications. Finally, we will provide exam preparation guidance and study tips to help you succeed in achieving your COBIT 2019 Foundation certification.
