In this course, you will start by building a solid foundation in core Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) concepts. From there, you'll dive into the unique architecture and components of GCVE, exploring how to prepare, deploy, and investigate VMs in a private cloud environment. The course will then guide you through managing and monitoring your private cloud, configuring networking and storage components, and connecting GCVE to the broader ecosystem of Google Cloud services and the internet.
Overview
Syllabus
- Identify Fundamental Features of Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE)
- In this module, you'll identify key Google Cloud services relevant to GCVE. You'll then examine the differences between GCVE and other Google Cloud computing options. Next, you'll recognize key mechanisms of GCVE within a VMware environment. Finally, you'll describe the high-level architecture and components of a GCVE environment.
- Identify Prerequisites and Permissions for Creating a GCVE Private Cloud
- In this module, you'll identify the prerequisites and permissions needed for creating a GCVE private cloud. You'll then learn how to configure and deploy a private cloud in your Google Cloud environment. Finally, you'll navigate through the process of deploying a virtual machine using the Google Cloud Console.
- Manage and Monitor a GCVE Private Cloud
- In this module, you'll analyze the settings and features of a deployed GCVE private cloud. You'll then explore the various management appliances within that private cloud, including vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and ESXi hosts. Finally, you'll learn how workloads are migrated and managed using VMware HCX.
- Configure Networking and Storage Components Within a GCVE Environment
- In this module, you'll describe the fundamental networking features of GCVE, including VMware Engine networks, VPC network peering, and subnet segmentations. You'll then configure GCVE networking appliances like VPC peering relationships, external access firewall rules, and DNS. Finally, you'll explore and differentiate between the storage options available in GCVE, specifically workload storage and infrastructure storage.
- Connect GCVE to Google Cloud Services and the Internet
- In this module, you'll discover common use cases for connecting GCVE to other Google Cloud services. You'll then learn how to establish that connectivity, ensuring seamless integration between your VMware environment and the broader Google Cloud ecosystem. Finally, you'll explore how to enable internet access for workloads running within your GCVE private cloud.
