Generative AI is impacting many sectors—and project management is no different. In this short course, you'll look at the fast development of generative AI and how this may influence project management. You'll review the role of the project manager and how generative AI can help complete tasks. You'll also be encouraged to access a generative AI tool and practice with exercises and learn about how generative AI can present security and ethical issues within project management—and what project managers will need to think about as Generative AI continues to move into the future.
In this 6-hour course, you will:
-Understand the basic principles of Project Management and understand why their application improves the likelihood that change projects will be successful
-Gain the ability to use Generative Artificial Intelligence in a project management environment
-Obtain a basic understanding of Generative Artificial Intelligence and how this can assist the project manager
-Obtain a basic understanding of the ethical and security issues surrounding the use of Generative AI.
Delivered by University of Glasgow experts, this course will inform project managers and help them visualise the future of generative AI and project management.
Overview
Syllabus
- Week 1: Welcome and Introduction
- This course comprises two modules. These are designed to be completed over two weeks but the course is asynchronous so this is just a guideline. Once we have considered the overall impact that Artificial Intelligence is having, and is likely to continue having, on our everyday lives we will be focussing specifically in the part that Generative AI might play in the field of project management. In this module, we will investigate the role of the project manager and look at the ways that generative AI can aid PMs in the completion of their tasks. We will also consider the wider issue of the overall impact that generative AI will have on project management. If you haven't already done so we will also be encouraging you to begin working with an AI tool of your choice.
- Week 2: Good Practice, Tools, and Use
- In this week, we'll take what we've learned in Week 1 and put it into practice. There will be exercises for you to complete using generative AI tools and scheduling and risk management. We'll also consider what the future might bring as AI starts to evolve and highlight what you might need to consider in regard to ethics and security.
