Maybe you already have an idea for a clothing brand but no idea where to get started. This class offers a practical approach for our creative-minded design students. We'll start with the basics and teach how to design a collection. From there, you'll create a business plan, learn where & how to get your samples made, and cover all the details that go into starting your own clothing brand!During this course you will:Create a capsule collection; create a clothing linePut together mood boards and collection researchChoose the right fabric for garments and the basics of fabric purchasingCreate a sample and learn where to get production doneLearn about sizing and grading a fashion lineCreate a sales and marketing planPerform merchandising math and pricingLearn how to conduct website and e-commerce salesPROJECTS: Design and produce a mini collection 1-2 looks and understand all concepts of where and how to manufacture and produce your clothing line and how to market and sell your fashion line.FABRIC AND SUPPLIES: Supplies will be discussed in first class. (No supplies needed for the first day of class). Fabric and other collection materials will be provided by the students.COURSE DURATION: 8 hours total. Class options: 2 hours once per week for 4 weeks.PREREQUISITE: None!
