Overview

The 30 hour OSHA class is more appropriate for supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility. It provides more in-depth training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in the construction industry. It also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. It is taught by an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized instructor. Students receive a card acknowledging they have completed the class.Audience: Construction site supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility.Prerequisites: Student must be able to communicate with the instructor in the language the course is held in.Materials: Pens, instruction booklets, test, videos, PowerPoint presentations, instructor evaluation sheet, attendance sign-in sheets. *Course fee includes: administrative fees, course materials, and certificates. Available for purchase: extra booklets, certificate replacements, and mailing out certificates.*Methods of Instruction: A combination of lectures, PowerPoint presentations, open discussions, hands-on activities, and testing will be used throughout this course.Learning OutcomesAt the end of this course, the students shall be able to:Discuss why OSHA is important to the workers.Discuss what rights workers have under OSHA.Discuss what responsibilities employers have under OSHA.Discuss OSHA standards and how inspections of those standards are conducted.Recognize where workers can go for help.Identify common health hazards found in construction.Use protection from industrial hygiene and toxicology.Learn for recall the procedures on how to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control health hazards in construction.Learn for recall hazard communication program for construction.Recognize respiratory protection program.Recognize hearing program.Identify common caught-in or -between hazards.Describe types of caught-in or –between, struck by, electrocution and fall hazards.Protect themselves from caught-in or –between, hazard struck by, electrocution and fall hazards.Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from caught-in or –between, struck by, electrocution and fall hazards.Identify what the responsibilities are for both employers and employees.Identify protective systems for head and how to properly use and maintain.Identify protective foot wear along with preventing injury to feet and legs.Identify protection for face and eyes and identifying what type of protective equipment should be utilized for each.Identify protection for hearing loss prevention, identifying which ear protection shall be needed and when it shall be needed.Identify protection for hands and body, what type of equipment and when to needed.Identify what Respiratory Protection is needed and how to properly use.Identify and use GHS labelling for chemicals in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), Revision 3.Identify hazards associated with the use of ladders and stairways for construction use.Identify hazards associated with each topic.Identify proper use for each.Define role of Competent person.In order to successfully fulfill the requirements for completion of the 30 Hour OSHA course and to receive a certificate/card for the course, students must:Be able to clearly communicate with the instructor and complete all paperwork in the language the course is delivered. No personal interpreters permitted.Complete all required paperwork: registration, evaluation, attendance, etc.Attend all required hours of the course. Any make up sessions must be completed within six months from the course start date.Participate during class activities and reviews.Complete tests with a passing grade of 70%.Course disclaimer:During the course, you will need to participate in all activities, make sure that you will be all the time online, and you will complete all required forms and exams during the course.If you are completing the course to get your SST card, please make sure to inform the administrator during the course in order to receive your online SST card form request. The cars will be provided to students in-person in our office in order to identify the student's Identity. Please, note that as a training provider, we are obligated to inform the NYC DOB about every student about training status, and you will not have any issues after course completion. Your information will be provided to the NYC DOB next day of the course completion.In order to receive a certificate/card for the course, students must:Be able to clearly communicate with the instructor and complete all paperwork in the language the course is delivered.
