This course examines the relationship between multicultural communities and the justice system. It will explore the interactions between criminal justice practitioners and special populations, including LGBTQIA+, women, the elderly, children, the mentally ill, disabled, and immigrants. Analysis of appropriate actions when responding to special populations will be explored, along with alternatives to the use of force. Social skills, de-escalation tactics, relationship building, and collaborating with community partners will be reviewed. (C-ID AJ 160) Transfer: CSU; UC
