Limitation on Enrollment: Appropriate standing in the ADN program or as approved by the ADN Program Director. This level 3 course provides a comprehensive review of child and adolescent nursing. Using growth and development concepts as a framework for presenting problems and special concerns of the pediatric patient. Communication, anticipatory guidance, response to hospitalization, legal and ethical issues, and health care of pediatric clients are discussed. Coordinated exercises emphasize the development of clinical judgment. The process of recognizing and analyzing cues, prioritization of care, and evaluation of outcomes is applied to a variety of care management scenarios. This course is designed as a review course for learners who have previously successfully completed the full course including the clinical component or transfer students who have successfully completed a vocational nursing program and obtained licensure from their state.
