> Learners interested in Google Cloud Platform: A brand-new Specialization with cloud-infrastructure content by Google Cloud is now available! The new Architecting with Google Cloud Platform Specialization has updated, improved content that will help you if you are preparing for the Google Certified Professional - Cloud Architect exam. Head to https://www.coursera.org/specializations/gcp-architecture to explore the updated content.
The first course in the original Specialization, GCP Fundamentals, will remain as a standalone course offering a broad introduction to GCP. Head to https://www.coursera.org/learn/gcp-fundamentals/home/welcome if you would like to take this course.
This course introduces configuration management on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Many of the concepts in this course rely on topics covered in earlier courses in the specialization, so if you haven’t yet worked through that material, you should go back and complete the first and second courses. The labs in this course also rely on work you should have completed in the labs in the previous course. If you haven’t completed the labs in the previous course you should go back and make sure you work through all the labs and have an image of the Guestbook container before moving on to the labs in this course.
In this course you learn how to create and configure Cloud SQL instances. You also learn how to work with Compute Engine metadata as well as startup and shutdown scripts. These are all powerful tools that you rely on when designing and building highly available and scalable services as you will see later on in the next course.
Notes:
• You'll need a Google/Gmail account and a credit card or bank account to sign up for the Google Cloud Platform free trial (Google is currently blocked in China).
• There is a known issue with certain EU countries where individuals are not able to sign up, but you may sign up as "business" status and intend to see a potential economic benefit from the trial. More details at: https://support.google.com/cloud/answer/6090602
