Developing a system that can gather information for the outside world through the use of light, and then having a robot or other device respond to that information, is a skill that is in high demand within most organizations who seek to create innovative products.
In this course, students will learn how to identify and configure optical components such as lenses, windows, mirrors, filters, polarizers, gratings and prisms. Creating and detecting light using lasers, LEDs, cameras and detectors will also be covered.
Students will learn the key skill of combining these components into an optical systems capable of providing key information to a robot or device that requires sensory information.
