The course "Should Law Foster Forgiveness? Child Soldiers, Sovereign Debt, and Alternatives to Punishment" examines how law can promote healing instead of punishment. It looks at the situations of child soldiers and the effects of sovereign debt, encouraging forgiveness and reconciliation. Students are challenged to think critically about how laws affect marginalized communities and explore new ways to achieve justice. By considering different perspectives, the course helps students understand complex ethical issues related to justice and accountability. Overall, it offers a thoughtful look at how law can support healing rather than focus solely on retribution.

A good brief summation on the theories of forgiveness in the law as opposed to personal forgiveness from individuals. It covered a lot of ground in a brief period. I would like to see a longer course go into more detail.
