This course explores the ethical considerations surrounding zero-day vulnerabilities in the context of national security and law enforcement operations. The learning outcomes include understanding the societal risks associated with the trade and adoption of zero-day vulnerabilities, as well as proposing a code of ethics for the trade of vulnerability information. The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge to ensure the respectful and beneficial use of zero-day capabilities. The teaching method involves a presentation of six principles and eight ethical standards to guide and regulate the conduct of businesses involved in the trade of vulnerability information. This course is intended for individuals in the cybersecurity industry, including security technologists, decision-makers, and technology vendors, who are interested in understanding the ethical implications of zero-day vulnerabilities.
