Forensic archaeology is the use of archaeological methods and theory to locate, recover, and interpret evidence in medicolegal cases. This can include searching for human remains, surveying, sampling, recording, and documenting evidence. Forensic archaeologists may use their skills to help with missing persons investigations, reconstructing crime scenes, and establishing the identity of victims.
In missing persons cases, forensic archaeologists may try to determine how and when human remains were disposed of.
