This course, aiming to help you get familiar with what is happening in China, provides you with perspectives and resources to enable you to understand, discuss, and interact with contemporary China. This course consists of eight chapters which answer the following questions respectively: what aspirations we (Chinese people) have, who we are, how we exercise our rights, how we develop our economy, what values we uphold, what path we choose for the future, how we stay in harmony with nature, and how we contribute to the well-being of the international community. You may acquire some knowledge and insights that may help you build a brand new understanding of contemporary China and the possible reasons why China is the way it is.
