Statistics is reasonably crucial in modern life. It is a foundation of scientific data analysis and is needed by almost every industry. The course "Statistics and Introductory Data Analysis" is deliberately designed for college students in the business area to build up their understanding of the key statistical mindset and the ability of data analysis.
Collecting, organizing, visualizing and then finding common measures that describe the properties of the data, often referred to as descriptive statistics, is the first main part of this course. Using those properties of samples to estimate or infer the characteristics of the population, also called inferential statistics, is the next main part of the course. All these will be taught in the formal lectures and assisted with the statistical software and data analysis tools. In addition, a series of case studies on the theme of "Belt and Road Initiative" are given to illustrate how to do data analysis with the statistical methods and real-world data.
