Spectral analysis of organic structure is an important analysis tool in the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical science, life science and environmental science. Mastering the basic principles and spectral analysis methods of organic compounds has become one of the necessary abilities for chemists. Spectral analysis of organic structures has become one of the most important courses for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in chemistry and chemical engineering.
Traditional methods for identification of organic structures are very tedious. Modern physical experimental methods can make up for the shortcomings of traditional methods. Correct identification of organic structures could be obtained with trace amount of material and within short time. This course mainly introduces ultraviolet spectroscopy, Infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry, which are the four most widely used spectra in structural characterization of organic compounds. The course of "Spectrometric Identification of Organic Compounds" is offered by the school of environmental and chemical engineering from Yanshan University. We expect to stimulate students' interest, improve their ability in identifying various compounds, in order to lay a solid foundation for their future research and work.
