Overview

“Selected Readings of Financial English Newspapers and Periodicals” is a liberal elective course offered by Ningbo University of Finance and Economics. This course is guided by the core values of socialism and correct news concept, guiding students to tell “Chinese news stories” and convey positive values. The course aims to guide students to increase their reading materials, command the characteristics of newspapers and periodicals, and learn vocabularies and cultural knowledge in the fields of finance and economics by reading financial English newspapers and periodicals. At the same time, this MOOC selects financial news texts that meet ideological and political themes; improve students’ news literacy and the ability to learn independently. The course focuses on cultivating students’ ability to acquire and output information from English newspapers and periodicals. This curriculum is expected to broaden students’ international cultural vision, guide contemporary college students to critically accept information from English newspapers and periodicals, and build a brand-new journalism outlook.
