Overview

With the upsurge of traditional Chinese medicine around the world, traditional Chinese medicine has attracted more and more attention in the world, gradually becoming China's "export-oriented" culture and going abroad and to the world. As the "business card" of traditional Chinese medicine, there are now 196 countries and regions in the world carrying out research and clinical application of acupuncture, with about 380,000 acupuncture workers and more than 100,000 acupuncture and moxibustion institutions abroad. More than one third of the world's population have received treatment with TCM, acupuncture, Tuina or Qigong, indicating that TCM acupuncture has become the most widely used alternative medical therapy in the world.

Although there are many bilingual textbooks of Acupuncture and Moxibustion published at present, with the rapid development of online platforms such as MOOC in the information age, the online bilingual courses of acupuncture and Moxibustion are still in urgent need of construction and development.

This course, Acupuncture and Moxibustion (English), describes the basic theory of acupuncture and moxibustion in English, and systematically expounds the theory of meridians, acupoints, acupuncture and moxibustion methods and their clinical application. The main contents include the running courses of the twelve meridians and the eight extraordinary meridians, the main syndromes, the location of some important acupoints, the indications, the operation of acupuncture and moxibustion methods, and the general introduction of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment. Learning this course can not only help students to master the professional theory, skills and clinical application, but also improve their ability to express and communicate with foreign countries in English, and at the same time improve their ability to read English journals, so as to lay a certain foundation for future in-depth research.

Acupuncture-moxibustion (English) has always been a course offered by our school for clinical medical students and short-term international students. Over the years, the teaching team has accumulated rich classroom teaching and clinical teaching experience, providing a learning platform for international students in China to learn related professional knowledge. Through the study of this course, the international students in China can understand and be familiar with the basic knowledge, basic theory and basic skills of acupuncture and moxibustion, so as to improve their thinking and clinical ability of acupuncture and moxibustion. It can also accelerate the process of internationalization and modernization of acupuncture and moxibustion.

This course refers to many classic bilingual textbooks of acupuncture and moxibustion at home and abroad, such as Luo Yongfeng and Wu Junmei (Bilingual textbook of Acupuncture and Moxibustion), Shen Xueyong and Wang Hua (edited by Shen Xueyong and Wang Hua), Zhao Baixiao (bilingual textbook of Acupuncture and Moxibustion), Zhao Jingsheng (edited by Zhao Jingsheng), Li Zhaoguo (edited by Li Zhaoguo), Li Zhaoguo (edited by Li Zhaoguo) (bilingual textbook of Acupuncture and Moxibustion), Chinese Acupuncture edited by Zhang Haimeng and Shen Xueyong, and Atlas of Acupuncture edited by Claudia Focks.
