"Oil Painting Creation" is a specialized elective online course for students majoring in oil painting, totaling 400 minutes. The course covers various types of practical theories in oil painting creation, including realism, expressionism, abstractionism, composite painting, and ethnic themes. It is based on the history of oil painting development and emphasizes foundational training in oil painting creation and the study of creative principles. By offering the oil painting creation course, students will acquire essential theoretical knowledge and develop solid and comprehensive basic painting skills, techniques, and the ability of painting from life, while further extending and upgrading their preparation for graduation projects. The course primarily aims to cultivate students' thinking methods and practical abilities in transitioning from life to art and from experience to creation, based on the accumulation of foundational painting skills and the initiation of oil painting creative thinking and understanding of artistic language in the preliminary courses. The course content includes both theoretical instruction and creative practice. In terms of theoretical instruction: First, students will study the works of outstanding domestic and international artists, analyzing and explaining them through iconography to inspire their thinking, expand their creative space, and help them identify their strengths and development directions. Additionally, students will be introduced to the general rules of painting creation "based on themes", with analyses of classic works in this genre to help them understand the creative logic more concretely. This will guide students in collecting, organizing, analyzing, and refining materials, allowing them to sense and explore historical, cultural, and contemporary values from history and social reality, thus facilitating the creation based on "themes". Second, specific situations of each student during the course will be analyzed and suggestions will be provided. The instructor will address different individuals based on their practical experiences, posing questions or offering recommendations to guide students in independent creation and personal expression. Creative practice encompasses both in-class and out-of-class activities: primarily the expression of intentions, material collection and organization, theme confirmation, sketching, and creative practice. In this process, student-led creation is emphasized, with the instructor providing guidance on artistic thinking, forms, and expression techniques, tailoring instruction to individual needs and guiding students to translate their feelings, experiences, and understanding into appropriate artistic expressions.
