With constant expansion of NVS application field, the equipment, technologies and structures have become increasingly complicated, including optical, sensors, chips, data compression, network transmission, computers, storage and electrical technologies. A mix of analog, analog-to-digital, and totally digital monitoring systems is used in current NVS, and most users know little about the details. "knowing but not knowing why." With the continuous improvements of the requirements of various projects, systematic basic technology and product knowledge become necessary in the construction of the all-digital network video surveillance system.
This course has comprehensively explained the knowledge of network monitoring hardware equipment, the system (management) platform and intelligent analysis, including Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Video Cassette Recorder (VCR), and hard disk recorder (Digital Video Recorder, DVR), hybrid hard disk recorder (Hybrid Digital Video Recorder, HDVR), video encoder (Digital Video Server, DVS), network video recorder (Network Video Recorder, NVR), and the network camera (Internet Protocol Camera, IPC), each of which is the topic for a chapter.
The lectures of this course focused on not only the structure and equipment of NVS, but also the compression principles and the frequently-used compression coding algorithms. Additionally, the principles of network protocols and video surveillance applications will also be included. As a result, this course can cover both of digital images, videos and network engineering technologies, and the arrangement and depth of this course will be increased. For the demand of application-oriented, the contents will be arranged based on the type of equipment.
