The main objective of this course is to improve students’ thinking quality and ability, especially their rational thinking and scientific spirit, which is manifested in the cultivation of the readers' habits of well-grounded reasoning and the ability of logical expression.
This course not only cultivates students’thinking ability, but also their character and capacity. The aim for the study of this course is to cultivate students' matter –of-fact character and indomitable spirit, to cultivate students' ability to explore the unknown and to have the courage to innovate.
Since the students enrolled in this course are chiefly majors of humanities, the selection of the course content is highly targeted and is easy for students to understand and accept. In addition, the goal of the course is clear, focusing on the development of students' thinking ability rather than a lot of calculation. Therefore, the course is very popular among students.
This course is taught on campus for 54 class hours (3 credits). Students come from majors of humanities such as literature, history, philosophy and art. The annual enrollment for the course is around 400 to 600 students.
