Overview

The course "English for Railway Industry" is the combination of English language knowledge and knowledge of specialty, cultivates students’ vocational ability in professional English teaching, improves the ability to use English as a working language for communication in the process of vocational ability cultivation, and then effectively improves the core competence of students in railway vocational colleges.

This course is a public basic course for first-year students of all majors in railway vocational colleges, which has a basic position and instrumental role in the curriculum. The course takes the workplace situations to lead the language skills target, through real language materials and training, brings the actual work scene into the classroom, and gives students an intuitive professional experience. The course integrates "teaching, learning and doing" as a whole, constructs student-centered learning environment, fully mobilizing their enthusiasm, enhancing their vocational ability, and forming a complete system of English application skills so that they can apply what they have learned.

This course is designed and made by a team of teachers at Harbin Railway Technical College. It is taught in English and has a wide target audiences, including students of railway vocational colleges, international students of rail programmes, as well as railway employees. The course content is easy to understand, the concept is clear, and the ideological and political elements are skillfully integrated, while also supporting by a large number of railway scene pictures, videos and exercises. Both school students and social learners are able to understand the railway and love the railway through the course.
