English for Presentations at International Medical Conferences

The course “English for Presentations at International Medical Conferences" aims to familiarize medical students and medical professionals with the main procedures and aspects of academic medical conferences, to master the standard academic etiquette, and to effectively solve their practical language problems in academic medical communication.
This course is divided into five parts. The first part is about "preparation for the conference", which consists of conference characteristics, academic conference format, information collection, speech plan writing and PPT design, etc. The second part is about "speech and presentation", which consists of basic knowledge of paper presentation, process of paper presentation, language characteristics of paper presentation and common language expressions of paper presentation, etc. Part three is "conference presiding", which consists of characteristics of academic conference, conference presiding process and guest introduction skills, etc. The theme of the fourth part is "making poster ". Part five is "conference etiquette", which consists of the connotation of academic conference etiquette, etiquette characteristics, as well as telephone etiquette, letter etiquette and specific examples of letter etiquette.
The course is intended for medical, teaching and research staff; postgraduate and undergraduate medical students at all levels of medical (pharmaceutical) colleges and universities, biomedical research institutes, medical institutions.
